Cookout desert, Berry Crumble

Today we had a seafood cookout. For desert, we made a berry crumble dish. To make this dish, you would combine raspberries,  strawberries, and blueberries together. Then you would put 1/4 cornstarch and 1/4 sugar into the mixture. Then you would put 3 spoons of cinnamon. Then you would mix the berries and all that together. After, you would pour each into six dish cups. Then put in oven for 45 minutes.

Trip to Washington D.C.

Today I went to D.C. It was amazing because I don't visit D.C. a lot. For lunch, I went to Ben's Chili Bowl, which was amazing. I learned about today about the history of cooking and the history of D.C. itself.

Day 2, Julie and Julia

Today we watched Julie and Julia. I had never seen or heard of that movie before today. It was a really great movie and I'm glad I got the opportunity to watch it.

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

Last Holiday and Mrs. Fran's house

Last Holiday was a great movie. I really wish that would happen to me except I marry two guys instead, but that is beside the point. I wish my luck worked in such a way. Ms. Fran's house was really nice. I love old houses and large plots of land so I had a field day just looking around.

Day 9

Today is the fish fry! We made fish, chicken, cole slaw, fries, and hushpuppies! Everything was so good! For desert we made a berry crumble!

Day 8

Today, We went to Cary Town! In the morning, we went to a chocolate shop, and a spice shop. For lunch we ate at a vietnamese restaurant and it was so good! Then the rest of the day we walked around Cary Town and went into every shop!

Mrs. King

It was fun in Mrs. King's house. We learned about the table manner and flower decor. Also, we saw her chickens, cows, cats, dog, and the bees. Thank you so much, Mrs. King.

Fish Fry

Sauce is in my veins

You and I are not the same
Blood does not run in my veins
For if I fall from the top
Of a pasta shop
My body will leak delicious sauce
Pesto, Marinara, and Alfredo
My heart is made of ripe tomatoes
My brain is a meatball
My legs are noodles
My lungs are made of a delicious strudel
You and I are not the same
Only sauce runs through my veins

Day 7

Today, Eshantee and I made caramel sauce. The caramel sauce was so good with ice cream and the cookies! In the afternoon, Makyala, Rilee, and I made a strawberry tart. We diced up strawberries, and then mixed the strawberries with strawberry pie filling. We then crushed up pretzels. We put the pretzels in the bottom of the pan and then poured the strawberries on top and then baked it!

Carytown

Two days ago we went to Carytown, and it was really fun. When we arrived in Carytown, we went to the Chili store, Chocolate store, and lunch in Sen Vietnamese food. After that, we had free time to go everywhere. I bought new sunglasses and earrings. For dinner, we had Indian food. Thank you so much, guys.

Day 6

Today, in the morning, we watched The Last Holiday. In the afternoon, we went to Mrs. Kings house and learned party etiquette, and how we should act at different events and how we should dress. Vietnamese Food

Carytown was fun. It was my first time ever actually walking through that street so it was quite interesting.I never realized a singular street could have so many food places. as one can tell by the title, my favorite part was the Vietnamese food. I truly regret not getting two take-out boxes for later.
Mine and Riley's food. Spring rolls in dry noodles.
Uyen's broken rice.

Chocolate Brulee Recipe

Put 1/2 chocolate in the pan
Put the milk and mix it together

Ms. Dunston is going to post the detail of recipe for the Chocolate. Thank you.

Day 4

Today, I made an orange creme brûlée, well not really I was only in charge of putting the orange zest in it and stirring it a little :) In the afternoon we watched Chocolate. This was my favorite movie so far!

College and a Movie

During one of our movies, pretty sure it was Julie and Julia, I got accepted to George Mason University. It made me happy as it was the first non-safety school that I have heard back from. Now that movie will always be a happy memory!

Fry Fiest on Thursday and Fried chicken recipe

Yesterday we had a last party together as the cooking class. The main theme is fried food: fried catfish, fried chicken, hush puppies, French fries and berry crumble as dessert. Everything was amazing. I had some catfish, hush puppies, and 2 berry crumbles with whipped cream topping. I liked that fried catfish. It was crunchy and I could actually taste the fish, unlike the thin slice of slice I had in other fast food restaurant. The hush puppies tasted really good with chopped onion inside them. My favorite was the berry crumble. the crunchy thing on top ( I thought it was granola and coconut) went so well with the sour berry and the sweet almond whipped cream. Overall, it was an amazing ending party for the whole 2 weeks.
Recipe for fried chicken:
1. Put the chicken pieces in butter milk for 20 minutes
2. Put chicken in batter -> into egg (mixed the whole egg) -> into batter again
3. Fry the chicken and enjoy ;)

Day 3

Today, we went to D.C. We went to Ben's Chili Bowl for lunch today! It was delicious. After we ate lunch we rode the metro to the American History Museum, and then after the Natural History Museum. The coolest part was when I went to see the live butterflies. By the end of the day everyone was so tired so we rode the metro back to the bus and the went home. The D.C trip was really fun!

Cook-out

Well as our last day we did a little cookout. Of course I offered to help make the sweets. We mixed berries and other things together into a bowl. Then we made a crumble to put on top of the berries. In the crumble there was coconut, flour, sugar, brown sugar, oatmeal, butter; then mixed it together with my hands. While making this others were frying fish, chicken and potatoes.

Crumble Recipe

Dessert Recipe
1. Put 6 cups fruits
2. Put 1/4 sugar
3. Put 1/4 cornstarch
4. 4 spoons of Cinnamon
After that mix all of them together and put in the bowl with the topping. After that put in the oven.

Day 2

Today, I was in charge of cooking the pasta. I'm surprised I did it right :) All I had to do is put the pasta in boiling water, and cook it for 11-14 minutes, uncovered. We also watched Julie and Julia that afternoon, such a great movie!

Day 1

Today, Makayla and I made the best potato soup. it was homemade and the best Potato soup I have ever tried. Now I know that homemade soup is better than store bought soup :) First, we covered the bottom of the pan with olive oil, and diced up onions, then threw them in. Then the next thing we threw in was the 2 diced up potatoes, then we made the soup creamy with the hand blender. When the soup was almost finished, we diced up another potato to give it texture, and then waited for the potato to soften, and then it was ready to serve :)

C-town

Today we went to the town I currently live in. We went to Sen which was a restaurant I worked on their opening day this summer. It is Vietnamese and I got a sandwich that had pork belly, cucumber, and special sauce, it was delicious. Then we were able to explore the town and shop. Then we went to  Indian and I can say I am not a fan of Indian. We also went to my favorite cupcake shop and I got a chocolate strawberry flavor. But overall a good day!

bacon

today we made bacon with maple syrup, brown sugar, and cheese. We missed the bacon and maple syrup together and then poured it over the cheese and ate it with little crackers. Other group made something delicious with strawberries and pretzels.
